GOOD NEWS AUTO'S JUMPSTART FUND
There was a time when many people carried battery cables in their trunk and on occasion would be called upon by someone to “give me a Jumpstart?” A person would pull up, pop their hood and hook up the cables to help a friend, or a stranger, get back on the road. Everyone has needed a boost from time to time and we are committed to offer this opportunity to our community.
Our JumpStart Fund offers customers an opportunity to pay for major vehicle repairs on a sliding scale or to access matched savings towards future repairs. This helps make auto repairs more affordable and ensures our customers have access to safe and affordable transportation.
Application process -- The application process for our sliding scale and matched savings are the same. This allows people to apply for both opportunities at the same time. You must attend an information session as part of the application process. Please register through the Eventbrite link below.
Vehicle Assessment -- Part of the application process is a JumpStart assessment for your vehicle. This is a full inspection and will determine what repairs are needed and what is eligible for JumpStart. There is a fee associated with this which will be determined at the time of the application.

SLIDING SCALE
(For people who are employed or have confirmation of starting employment, referral from community agency) Our sliding scale is designed to make critical safety repairs more affordable for our customers. Eligibility for the sliding scale is based on income, circumstance and the size of the estimated repair. The vehicle assessment done as part of the application is used to determine safety and critical repairs and what will qualify as part of the sliding scale opportunity. The safety repairs will be paid for by the customer, our JumpStart Fund and a community partner. |
MATCHED SAVINGS
(For people who are employed, Low income or on AISH or SFI) Matched savings are designed to help people set money aside for repairs and maintenance BEFORE they happen. Our JumpStart Fund offers a 1:1 match for money put on account with us towards future repairs or maintenance. Eligibility for matched savings are based on income, circumstance and completion of our vehicle education courses. The amount of funds eligible for matched savings will be determined at the time of application. The funds for the matched savings will be provided by the customer and our JumpStart Fund. The next round of Matched Savings will be starting in August, 2016. |
